WHO WE ARE
We’re a group of mostly local volunteers who conduct the largest Memorial Day parade in the country. We encourage you to get in the spirit of this uniquely American tradition. Join us as a volunteer at one of our many activities, and especially on parade day.
We look forward to seeing you.
Tom Carty, Chair

Tom is originally from Columbus, Ohio and is an Army veteran who served in the Third United States Infantry (The Old Guard) for six years.
While with The Old Guard, Sergeant Carty was a member of The Continental Color Guard and participated in the Inauguration of President Bill Clinton, the Funeral of President Richard Nixon, and the 50th Anniversary ceremonies commemorating of the D-Day invasion at Omaha Beach. After leaving active duty, Tom served three years in the New York Army National Guard.
For the past nineteen years, he has worked as a teacher, assistant principal, and is currently a principal with the New York City Department of Education. Tom lives in a historic section of Douglaston with his wife Elizabeth Macaluso-Carty and their two daughters, Jacqueline and Elizabeth.
Karen Dinegar, Vice-Chair

Karen was born in Jamaica and grew up on Long Island. She moved to Little Neck in 1991 with her husband Tom, a Vietnam veteran. The couple soon became involved in the parade and raised their three children in the LND parade tradition, as marchers with their school and volunteers today.
She took on a far more active role as Director of Operations in 2013, and was mentored by the late Pat Gualtieri, renowned Producer of the NYC Veterans Day Parade. Karen produced the parade for five years and became Vice Chair in 2018.
Karen currently works as an independent title examiner and serves her community as an active board member of the Udalls Cove Preservation Committee, and the Douglaston and Little Neck Historical Society.
Victor G. Mimoni, Executive Director

Victor was born in Jackson Heights and raised in Douglaston, where his mother had lived since 1943.
After retiring from a 40-year stint running a family manufacturing business in Corona, he worked as a credentialed newspaper reporter, spokesperson for a New York City Council Member and freelance photojournalist/editor. He currently works for the City and is the former Commander of Squadron #103 of the Sons of the American Legion in Douglaston.
His memories of the parade go back 60 years, when the parade ended at the Douglaston LIRR station.
Victor has been involved in the parade since 2000 as Director of Communications and could be seen each year in the Media golf cart, passing out bottled water. He became Executive Director in 2018.
