When to Arrive

Morning ceremonies begin before the parade steps off. An interfaith service starts at 10:00 a.m., followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at 11:15 a.m. Lineup for marchers begins at 1:00 p.m. If you want a front-row spot, plan to be on Northern Boulevard by 12:30 p.m. Full times and locations are listed on our Parade Day Info page.

Where to Watch

Northern Boulevard offers more than two miles of viewing space. Families often gather near Divine Wisdom Catholic Academy, where refreshments are served after the first marchers pass. The Great Neck end near Jayson Avenue is lively at step-off, while the Douglaston end near 245th Street is popular for watching the parade conclude. Use the interactive map on this page to compare assembly areas and viewing spots.

Parking and Transit

Street parking fills quickly on Memorial Day. Arrive early and respect posted signs, driveways, and crosswalks. The Long Island Rail Road serves stations in Little Neck and Douglaston, and Nassau Inter-County Express buses run along Northern Boulevard. Allow extra time for walking from parking or transit stops to your chosen viewing location.

What to Bring

Dress for the weather. The parade marches rain or shine, as it has since 1927. Bring water, sunscreen, and a folding chair if you plan to stay for the full route. Small flags are welcome. Please keep bags and chairs clear of the street so marchers and emergency vehicles can pass safely.

Families and Accessibility

Children are welcome. The parade includes school bands, civic groups, veterans units, and community organizations. Strollers are common along the route. If anyone in your group needs a shorter visit, the middle sections of Northern Boulevard still offer strong views without staying for the entire parade.

Groups interested in marching should visit Apply to March. To learn more about the committee behind the event, read About the Parade.

We look forward to seeing you on Parade Day, Monday, May 25, 2026.
